Nottoway 72 Hour Release Status
The Nottoway Sheriff does not publish a county jail roster because the county's adult jail function is regional. Piedmont Regional Jail houses local and state offenders and contracts for U.S. Marshals prisoners. Its official offender lookup is expressly limited to people incarcerated at PRJ and under PRJ custody. It does not offer an official three-day released tab.
The official-site and embedded-application sweep found no distinct 72-hour URL, stated archive period, public release fields, or refresh schedule. A browser search at the end of three days cannot recreate the missing history. It shows current status only. The sound replacement is a date-bounded request for an existing PRJ release log, paired with VINE event checks and Nottoway court records.
Check Nottoway Three-Day Releases
Begin by fixing the interval. State both the opening and closing timestamp, including the date and local time. A request for “the last 72 hours” can shift while staff process it. A request for a named start and end point is stable. Collect each person's full name, an available birth date or booking number, and the Nottoway case number when known.
- Check PRJ's current lookup and note the exact time. A positive match supports present regional-jail custody.
- Search Virginia Jail VINE for the same person. Read release and transfer events as different outcomes.
- Review the Nottoway case in Virginia OCIS for bond, dismissal, sentence, or later docket entries.
- Ask PRJ Records for an existing release log or booking-release record covering the exact three-day interval.
- Follow any transfer to VADOC, BOP, another jail, or other named custodian instead of calling it a release.
The three-day method is useful for finding a cluster of events, but it does not lower the need to match identities. Similar names, aliases, and multiple booking episodes can produce a false match. Reconcile the booking date, facility, case, and unique number before joining a VINE event to a court entry.
Note: Set the interval before searching so each source can be compared against the same three-day period.
Nottoway 72 Hour Record Fields
There is no online 72-hour list with a confirmed display schema. The table identifies fields supported by the research for an existing PRJ booking or release record. Ask for fields the jail already maintains. Do not demand a new report if no prebuilt list or ordinary database export exists. PRJ may disclose a person-level record even when a broad list cannot be produced as requested.
| Field | How it helps a three-day review |
|---|---|
| Full name and aliases | Matches a person across jail, VINE, and court sources. |
| Date of birth or booking number | Separates namesakes and repeated custody episodes. |
| Arrest and booking date | Places the PRJ episode within the Nottoway case timeline. |
| Actual release date and time | Places the completed event inside or outside the requested interval. |
| Release authority or category | May distinguish bond, time served, sentence completion, or another recorded basis. |
| Transfer destination | Identifies a receiving custodian when the person did not enter the community. |
Some fields can be withheld or redacted for lawful reasons. Juvenile, medical, security, victim, investigative, probation or parole, sealed, and expunged information may have access limits. Ask PRJ to segregate the public portion rather than treating one protected field as a reason to abandon the whole request.
Nottoway Weekend Release Timing
A three-day range often spans a weekend or holiday, but Nottoway research found no official claim that PRJ publishes or groups releases that way. Court activity and jail processing also measure different events. An order entered before a weekend may be followed by bond posting, hold clearance, and physical processing later. The release record must supply the actual exit time.
PRJ's July 2026 rule says releases are not processed between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. The official release-hours notice does not guarantee that a person exits when the morning window opens. It simply defines a no-processing period. Other cases, identity checks, property return, transportation, or a second hold can affect when the exit occurs.
A weekend review should therefore span the entire desired interval and allow for an authorization that predates physical release. The Nottoway Circuit Court page provides local clerk routing for Circuit records. General District entries may cover bond and early case events, while a felony can later continue in Circuit Court. Neither docket should be treated as the jail's gate log.
Why Nottoway Releases Vanish
PRJ describes its lookup in the present tense. It does not publish a promise that a released record stays visible for 24 hours, 72 hours, or any set number of days. No authoritative refresh interval was found either. Calling the service “real time” would overstate the source. The safest practice is to timestamp what was observed and use the roster only for the current-custody question it answers.
This limit is especially important at a regional jail. The facility houses people tied to six member counties, plus state and federal populations. A person who disappears may have returned to the community, entered VADOC, moved under U.S. Marshals authority, reached another jail, or left the displayed population for some other reason. VINE event wording and the release or transfer record give the missing direction.
The official PRJ lookup screenshot below comes from the manifest and confirms the source's current-custody scope.
The image is not a released-person list. Use it as the first contrast in the workflow, then seek the historical event from PRJ Records.
Note: Retention of the underlying jail record is separate from how long a public roster entry remains on screen.
Nottoway Release Source Boundaries
Each official system covers one part of the three-day inquiry. Mixing them can turn a transfer into a false claim of freedom. A person held on a Nottoway charge may leave PRJ for state, federal, or another local custody. Someone who completes a state-prison term belongs in VADOC sources rather than a PRJ release list.
| System | What it can show | What it cannot prove alone |
|---|---|---|
| PRJ current lookup | Present PRJ custody at check time | A past release time or destination |
| Virginia Jail VINE | Reported local-jail event and alert time | A certified court result or freedom from all custody |
| Nottoway court record | Bond, disposition, sentence, and court orders | The completed gate event |
| VADOC locator or record | State custody, supervision, and supported date fields | The PRJ booking history |
| BOP locator | Federal custody and release information | State, local, or immigration status |
For a same-day event, use the Nottoway County 24-hour release workflow. That shorter check focuses on immediate verification and PRJ's local processing window. The 72-hour route is better when the date range itself is the question.
Request Nottoway Three-Day Records
The PRJ contact page lists Piedmont Regional Jail at 801 Industrial Park Road, Farmville, VA 23901, with mail to P.O. Drawer 388, Farmville, VA 23901. The main number is (434) 392-1601, and Records is extension 732. Records fax is (434) 392-5932. No dedicated records email, fixed fee schedule, or standard public-counter hours were found.
A focused request can identify the 72-hour start and end timestamps and ask for the existing adult release log or jail-management fields for that period. For a named person, add the birth date or booking number and approximate booking date. Seek actual release date and time, release type or authority as recorded, releasing facility, and public transfer destination. Ask for electronic copies and a cost estimate.
Virginia FOIA generally requires a response within five working days, subject to its defined response options and extensions. Charges may not exceed actual cost, and an advance deposit may be required when expected cost exceeds $200. That formal process is useful for a documented range, but it is not an emergency confirmation channel. Call PRJ for urgent coordination, then preserve the written record request when an official copy is needed.
For one specific name, the main Nottoway County release record process adds the full state, court, and federal fallback. Do not send a PRJ jail-record request to the Sheriff solely because the arrest began in Nottoway. The Sheriff maintains its own arrest or incident records, while PRJ maintains its jail custody record.
